Mary Lester
Mary Lester learned she was an artist in her preschool years when a teacher and family friends told her that’s what she was. She didn’t know what made her an artist, but her creativity never left her. Whether she was drawing neighborhoods on brown grocery bags that covered her bedroom floor, or was raiding the linen closet for towels and blankets to make structures with secret rooms on the small back porch, Mary was always creating.
As an adult she attended Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and discovered painting. From still life paintings to portraits, Mary loves realism. Eventually her cosmic life-journey led her into joyful and imaginative art in her style of realism. She finds inspiration for her art through meditation and Shamanic journeys. Those experiences make her art uniquely feminine and uniquely hers. There is a piece of Mary in each of her paintings. “While painting, the place I go to, that’s me.”
